Mayors of Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava and Budapest Arrived in Kyiv

January 11 Kyiv was invited to the "Pact of Free Cities"

At the invitation of Kyiv mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, mayors of 4 European capitals arrived in Kyiv: mayor of Warsaw Rafal Trzaskowski, mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib, mayor of Bratislava Matusz Vallo and mayor of Budapest Karácsony Gergel. After 5 pm on the train, the largest international meeting of mayors in recent years took place.

"Pact of Free Cities arriving at the free and proud city of Kyiv. In the heart of free and proud Ukraine. #StandWithUkraine," Rafal Trzaskowski.

Previously, Mayor Trzaskowski was already in Kyiv: on February 15, 2022, a few days before the start of the war. Today, on his next visit, following the results of the meeting with Klitschko, V4 invited Kyiv to join the Pact of Free Cities. PFC was founded in 2019 by the mayors of Bratislava, Budapest, Prague and Warsaw. As of 2023, the organization already has 20+ cities that have come together to protect the rule of law, human freedoms and the embodiment of democracy.

"We are also here to show that we are ready to help. If something happens, we coordinate our activities with other local governments in order to be able to help local governments in eastern Poland (if necessary)," Rafal Trzaskowski.

We remind you that Kyiv will soon become a sister city of Copenhagen, Denmark.

During the summit of the mayors of the capitals in Kyiv, the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland takes place in Lviv.
