Ukraine has been supported by other leaders since the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. More than 10 countries supply weapons to Ukrainian defenders. But the way of weapons from one country to another can take from 1 to 3 months. In the active war phase, these deadlines have a great impact. This means that the faster Ukraine can obtain weapons, the more effective will be the war against the occupiers.
On 29 April, the United States House of Representatives voted in favor of lend-lease for Ukrainians. On May 9, American president Joe Biden signed a document at the White House. This means that the new law will allow America to fast-track the approval of the list of weapons and determine the timing of their delivery. For Ukraine, lend-lease means:
- Rapid acquisition of weapons;
- Free use or rental of weapons;
- Expansion of the list of available equipment.
Now Ukrainian defenders of the territory and democracy will be able to receive:
- Tanks and armored vehicles;
- Artillery systems;
- Anti-ship missiles;
- Combat aircraft;
- Air Defence Systems.
Joe Biden’s support is important to the Ukrainians. The law adopted by him should improve the position of the armed forces of Ukraine and lead the country to victory over the invader.
