On June 12, the minister of foreign affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, congratulated the aggressor country on its national day and wished that the entire progressive society is in solidarity with it.
"Russia is marking its National, I wish defeat in the aggressive war against Ukraine, abandoning imperial ambitions and ultimately creation of a modern and democratic country RussiaDay2022" wrote Edgars Rinkēvičs on Twitter.
Edgars Rinkēvičs broadcasts the same values and views as the whole of Latvia and almost the whole of Europe: Russia must capitulate or inevitably be defeated in the war against Ukraine. We remind you that in response to Macron's words about Ukraine helping to save Putin's face, Edgars Rinkēvičs said that one should not worry about the "emotional well-being of the aggressor states because they will not appreciate it."
Latvia is one of the most reliable partners of Ukraine. During the most brutal and bloody war in the last 80 years, Latvia took the side of the country fighting for democracy and freedom. Almost every member of the country's government spoke out that Russia would be defeated in the war. We remind you that Latvian prime minister Krišjānis Kariņš said that to restore peace in Europe, Russia must stop the war. The state also provided Ukraine with its ports for the export of grain, provide us with a heavy weapon, recognized Russia's actions against the Ukrainian people as genocide, and supported Ukraine in the process of obtaining the status of a candidate member of the EU.
