Russia Rejects Humanitarian Armistice

On April 20, the UN general secretary proposed a 4-day break during the Easter holidays in the war in eastern Ukraine to evacuate civilians and the wounded. Russia refused the same day

Russia wants to destroy Mariupol as revenge for undevelopement of their country. Wants to destroy Mariupol to blackmail other cities of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the country’s government with the words “do you want to be like in Mariupol?”

Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, proposed a temporary truce on April 20, as more than 10.000 civilians are currently blocked in the city. Within hours of receiving the "Easter truce", Russia officially refused it. Kyslytsya announced this on his Twitter and added a video with a speech by the Russian representative to the UN.

António Guterres called for an "Easter humanitarian break" from 21 April to organize humanitarian corridors and evacuate civilians. The position of the Moscow fuhrer was voiced in a few hours at the Security Council. Listen to it!”

“These calls for peace and a ceasefire sound very false and insincere. Which in practice only means giving Kyiv's nationalists and radicals a break so that they can help regroup and, along the way, arrange new inhuman provocations and launch new fakes about Russian soldiers. We will carefully separate such tactical pseudo-peacekeeping calls from a sincere desire to help Ukraine and make the only right decision that is long overdue,” the UN spokesman announced officially.

In the final part of his speech, the Russian representative literally voiced an ultimatum to Ukraine and his plans to destroy our country.

“The faster Ukraine does it, the better it will be for this country. Because one way or another, the task of a special military operation to save Donbas, demilitarize and denazify Ukraine and the threats to Russia emanating from there will definitely be fulfilled.”

President Zelenskyy and his adviser Mykhailo Podoliak are every second ready to go to Mariupol to begin negotiations on the release of civilians and the military. However, Russia is not interested in negotiations, as it plans to destroy Mariupol, not to save lives.

"Today, in a conversation with the city's defenders, a proposal was made to hold a negotiation round on the spot to evacuate our military garrison. For our part, we are ready to enter into such talks at any time as soon as we receive confirmation from the Russian side,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Recall that on April 20, Ukraine organized a humanitarian corridor. However, Russia's efforts managed to take out only half of the peaceful Ukrainians, and the rest were left to wait for the continuation of the evacuation on April 21. Whether she succeeds is unknown.
