Russians Kill Mariurol. Urgent Evacuation Is Needed

Ukraine, the United States, the UN, and Turkey are doing everything possible to save the civilian population and Ukrainian soldiers. Possible NATO involvement

20 April. The situation in Mariupol is critical. 10.000 people are locked in the city. Another 1000 civilians and 500 wounded soldiers are blocked in the Azovstal plant. The Russians do not allow evacuation and deliberately kill both civilian and military Ukrainians.

“This is our message to the world. This may be our last appeal. We may have only a few days or hours left. The grouping of the enemy exaggerates us dozens of times. They have dominance in the air, in artillery, in groupings operating on land, and in tanks. We are conducting defense at 1 facility — the Azovstal plant, where the military and civilians are trapped in the war. Mariupol military garrison. We have over 500 wounded soldiers and hundreds of civilians with us, including women and children. We ask you to provide us with security on the territory of a third state,” the commander of the 36th Marine Brigade Ukraine Serhii Volyna.

US state department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland believes that the siege of Mariupol and the holding of people hostage speaks of the brutality of this war and Putin's war crimes.

Victoria Nuland declares that if Russia still gives people a way out of Mariupol, then US' NATO partner countries can join the process and help evacuate civilians and the wounded.

The head of the Turkish Ministry of defense, Hulusi Akar, said he was ready to provide ships for the evacuation of Ukrainians from Mariupol.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres proposes a truce for Easter days: April 21-24. These days are critically needed to open humanitarian corridors from Mariupol, Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk, bring food/water/medicine to the affected areas, and, most importantly, urgently evacuate the wounded.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, supported the proposal of António Guterres and recalled his readiness to exchange prisoners of war of the Russian army for a safe exit for civilians and wounded soldiers from Mariupol.
