On April 4, the team of the Ukrainian State gas transport operator took part in the Budapest LNG Summit. Director of cooperation between Ukrainian state bodies and transnational organisations, Olha Bielkova, said that the Ukrainian GTO plans to strengthen cooperation with Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova in the field of transportation of natural and decarbonised (methane, hydrogen) gases.
Today, most European countries are at the stage of transition from non-ecological fuels to renewable gases. And while methane and hydrogen production has not reached global volumes, natural gas is an impeccable medium.
"Only joint measures to prevent monopolies, as well as research into the use of the GTS for decarbonised gases, the combination of the potential of the existing infrastructure will contribute to the energy security of the region with optimal costs for self-sufficiency in energy," Olha Bielkova.
Recently, the operator of the Ukrainian and Polish GTS signed an agreement on the interaction between the markets of the 2 countries and the joint production of biomethane and hydrogen.
