Sweden Signed Application for NATO Membership

On May 17, the MFA Ann Linde signed documents for joining the military-political bloc

The SVT news portal published information about the signature of historical significance: Sweden has decided to join NATO and signed the corresponding statement.

"This is perceived as a big, serious event, as a step that we consider the best for Sweden," Swedish minister of foreign affairs Ann Linde.

The application, as previously planned, will be submitted simultaneously with Finland — on May 17. We remind you that earlier, Sweden officially announced the fact that after a 200-year period of neutrality, the state nevertheless decided to join the Alliance.

We remind you that both states refused NATO membership both at the time of its foundation, and during the Russo-Finnish War of 1939, and during WW II. The US retired NAVY Admiral James Stavridis posted on his Twitter account a mock award to Putin from NATO: Vladimir Putin for his outstanding achievement as the 2022 NATO salesman of the year.
