The Swiss Ministry of economy, education, and research have the competence to impose restrictions against the Russian Federation due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
On 20 April, the Ministry imposed sanctions against the Russian private military company Wagner, which takes part in the war against Ukraine, and the RIA news agency. The decision came on the same day at 6 p. m. It is said on the official website of Switzerland's Ministry of economy, education and research. The country supported the decision of the European Union and recognized both organizations as propaganda violating human rights and spreading disinformation. The restrictions apply to organizations, members, and their financial possibilities in other countries.
Switzerland's decision shows support for and reinforcement of EU measures and recognition of Russia's guilt for the death and destruction in Ukraine. The imposition of sanctions is an essential part of the fight against the aggressor — companies on the sanctions list are financially constrained, cannot spread false information about the war, etc.
