The German-Ukrainian School Founded in Germany

After graduating from this school, graduates will receive diplomas on the education of both countries

On October 19, with the support of the German senate and the Ukrainian embassy in Germany, a Ukrainian-German school was launched in Berlin. For now, this is a pilot project: this year, the educational and methodological base will be developed, and the school will open its doors to the first students in September 2022/23. Children will study in both languages, and school graduates will receive certificates of completion of secondary education. Certificates will be legitimate on the territory of both Germany and Ukraine.

The preparatory stage of education will take place at the primary school Aziz-Nesin in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, followed by 4 years at Helena-Lange in Steglitz-Zellendorf.

According to Astrid-Sabine Busse, the German senator for education and youth, the school was created as a sign of "great solidarity with Ukraine" and for the sake of integrating Ukrainian children into a new environment. So far, there is only 1 such school. The representative of the embassy of Ukraine in Germany, Maksym Yemelyanov, expressed hope for opening similar educational institutions in other regions of Germany.

The opening of such institutions is critically important for young Ukrainians. In some regions of Ukraine, children no longer have the opportunity to receive an education, and hundreds more murdered children will never sit down at a desk again.
