The private military organization Wagner appeared in Russia in 2013. Since then, people who signed a contract with the organization which Putin's confidant, Evgeny Prigozhin, runs have participated in all the fighting started by Russia. Politico reports that the group defends Putin's interests at all costs. Mercenaries have already been involved in armed conflicts in Ukraine, Syria, Sudan, Mozambique, and the Central African Republic. The magazine also reports that the European Parliament, against the background of the adoption of a resolution on the recognition of Russia as a sponsor of terrorism, held a vote on the recognition of Wagner as a terrorist organization.
All representatives of the European Parliament voted for the relevant document. Parliamentarians consider that the Wagner group has already done much to qualify as a terrorist. It is also noted that Russia's private military activities violate international law and have proved this in Ukrainian and other conflicts.
Also previously reported was the death of a student from Zambia, who oddly got from a Russian prison to the war and was killed there.
The document was sent to European Council president Charles Michel and Czech prime minister Petr Fiala for consideration. Let us recall that on July 1, 2022, the Czech Republic became the president of the Council of the European Union, and Fiala was the main representative in the European Parliament from his country.
