On March 24, an American historian and United24 ambassador, Timothy Snyder, arrived in Lviv. First of all, Timothy met with his reader — a soldier of the 80th airborne assault brigade Olexandr Shirshin. Earlier, a photo fell into the hands of the scientist, where Alexander is reading his book The Road to Unfreedom in a trench. Schneider posted it on his Twitter with the caption "The highest honour for an author is the reader."
Later, Timothy held a closed projection for students of the Ukrainian catholic university and even planted a tree in the centre of Lviv.
"Now Timothy Snyder's tree will grow on Rynok square. We will win the war, and the professor will read his lecture on freedom here," the mayor of Lviv, Andrii Sadovy.
He noted that Snyder had been warning about the danger to the world posed by Russia long before the start of the war in 2014.
"Timothy is sure that the Russian empire must lose its last war because peace is possible only after the victory of Ukraine," Andrii Sadov.
This is the second visit of Timothy Snyder to Ukraine.
