Ukraine needs heavy weapons to defend its borders. The whole world is now trying to help at the state level. But Germany recently registered a private aid initiative. One of the largest manufacturers of military equipment in Europe and Germany — Rheinmetall Landsysteme — wants to provide Ukrainian fighters with weapons.
The company wants to sell infantry fighting vehicles. Ukraine needs such military transport. But first, the concern must obtain permission from the German parliament. If the answer is positive, the first shipment of weapons will be sent within 14 days.
The request from the Rheinmetall Landsysteme was received by the German ministry of economy and submitted to the federal security council. It is worth noting that the decision will be issued based on a response from the German prime minister Olaf Scholz, the head of the chancellor’s office, and the ministers of foreign affairs, interior, defense, finance, economy, economic cooperation, and justice.
This is the first such application since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Such a step is crucial for Ukraine after the deputy inspector general of the Bundeswehr Markus Laubental denied the possibility of supplying the weapons to the Ukrainian capital.
Note that Ukraine receives assistance from 15 countries. Among friendly countries are Turkey, Poland, America, etc.
