Japan at the Presidency of the G7 Increases Pressure on Russia

Fumio Kishida's rating among the population of Japan has grown after a visit to Ukraine

On May 19-21, the 49th G7 summit will be held in Hiroshima. Japan is now leading the twinning, and minister Fumio Kishida, who recently returned from a trip to Ukraine, said the summit was another opportunity to highlight the rule of law in international relations. He announced this in his speech on March 26 at the National defence academy graduation ceremony in Yokosuka. The minister added that during his visit to Ukraine, he was personally convinced of the atrocities and damage that Russia has inflicted on Ukraine, its civilian population and its infrastructure. Civilized states should continue to put pressure on Russia with sanctions, and Kishida plans to coordinate the G7 members in this direction.

Notably, 71% of the Japanese supported Fumio Kishida's visit to Kyiv, and after the visit to Kyiv, the minister's rating increased by 5%. This was announced by the ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, Serhiy Korsunsky.
