The destruction of the energy system of Ukraine also brought some positive aspects: in particular, the acceleration of the global transition to green energy and the decentralisation of heat supply systems. Energy minister German Galushchenko said that the old energy centres destroyed by Russian weapons will not be restored, but will be replaced by 20 small modular reactors.
Energoatom president Petro Kotin said that the company has signed relevant memorandums with Westinghouse, Rolls Royce, NuScale and Holtec International on the introduction and development of SMR in Ukraine.
In 2022, Ukraine entered into alliances with the US, Japan and Korea for the production of hydrogen and ammonia. And already today, Ukraine and Westinghouse are working to oust Russia from the global energy market.
