As of January 13, more than 2.4 million Ukrainians were left homeless or temporarily living in partially destroyed houses. At the initiative of president Zelenskyy, the United24 crowdfunding platform was launched, through which people from all over the world send funds to help Ukraine in 3 areas: restoring Ukraine's infrastructure, medicine, and demining.
Today, thanks to the funds raised through United24, the restoration of cities in the Kyiv region has begun. The state government sent the first ₴465 million (≈ $12.7) to restore houses destroyed by the Russian war.
"Irpin showed the Russian occupiers what the strength of Ukrainian weapons and spirit is. It is from here that we launch the first restoration projects within the framework of the United24 platform. 18 residential buildings will be restored in Irpin, Borodianka, Gostomel, the villages of Buzovaya and Mila," Ukrainian PM Denis Shmyhal.
Thanks to this initiative, more than 4.000 Ukrainians will soon be able to return home and start life anew.
Every Ukrainian whose home was destroyed or damaged by the war can submit an application to Diia, and the state will make sure that everyone can return home. As of January 13, more than 316.000 citizens in the de-occupied territories of our country left applications for restoration.
