On November 29, the government of Ichkeria, temporarily located abroad, adopted and published a resolution recognizing the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people, and openly condemned Russian measures to exterminate peoples.
"It is important to call historical events by their proper names. Throughout history, under the guise of declarations of friendship and "fraternal peoples", Moscow has tried to destroy the Ukrainians. One example of this is the artificially organized famine of 1932-1933, which claimed up to 7 million lives of Ukrainian peasants. It was the result of a policy of forced collectivization pursued by the government of the Soviet Union, which considered the Ukrainian peasantry to be support for the national movement and therefore took measures to destroy it. The peasants were taken away not only grain, but also all foodstuffs and even what could be exchanged for food, dooming them to starvation. In Ukraine, the Holodomor is perceived as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people, inspired by the government of the USSR," reports the presidium of the government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
We remind you that on May 21, the chairman of the state committee of the de-occupation and the government of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria Akhmed Zakaev arrived in Ukraine, visited Irpin, met with the government of Ukraine and supported the leader of the Crimean Tatar movement, ex-chairman of the Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev. During his stay in Ukraine, Akhmed Zakaev provided Ukraine with evidence of the independence of the Chechen Republic and recorded an appeal on the need for Ukraine to recognize the independence of the temporarily occupied Republic of Ichkeria.
On October 18, 2022, the parliament of Ukraine recognized Ichkeria as temporarily occupied by Russian troops and condemned the genocide of the Chechen people.
In the statement of the presidium of the government of Ichkeria dated November 29, the government of the republic thanks Ukraine for its support and expresses mutual support to our people.
