On June 6, 2022, the occupying Russian army blew up the spillway dam and engine gate of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. The preliminary damage estimate is $3.5 billion. Restoration work began as soon as the water completely receded (and drowned hundreds of Ukrainians on the deoccupied left and occupied right banks of the Dnipro river).
On October 4, the Ukrainian state enterprise Ukrhydroenergo and the Turkish engineering and consulting company Dolsar Muhendislik Anonim Sirketi signed a memorandum of cooperation. The memorandum emphasises that strengthening the fuel and energy complex of our state is a priority task. Therefore, Dolsar, in partnership with Ukrhydroenergo, will rebuild the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station and build the Kaniv pumped storage power plant (Cherkasy region).
Dolsar operates in 19 countries, and since 2019 in Ukraine. Here, the company has implemented over 200 hydropower projects with a total capacity of 35.000 MW.
