Ukrainian berry producers are expanding their presence in Europe, with new opportunities opening in France and Germany. European retailers are showing stronger interest in Ukrainian blueberries, raspberries and strawberries because of quality, stable volumes and competitive delivery conditions.
The first contracts are already being discussed or implemented, and some retail chains are ready to increase purchases in the next seasons. For Ukrainian farms, this is a chance to move from spot exports toward more predictable cooperation with large buyers.
Certification and cold chain
The main advantage is geography. Ukraine can deliver fresh berries to EU markets quickly, which is important for products with a short shelf life. However, access to major retail networks also requires strict standards, including GlobalG.A.P. certification and control of plant protection residues.
Many producers have invested in sorting lines, cooling facilities and packaging. These upgrades help keep quality stable from the field to the retailer and reduce losses during transport.
The trend shows that berry exports are becoming more professional and less dependent on single markets. If Ukrainian producers keep investing in certification and logistics, France and Germany could become important destinations for higher-value agricultural exports.
