Zelenskyy Awarded “Amazon” for Helping Ukraine

On July 6, the minister of digital transformation handed over the "Peace Prize" to representatives of "Amazon" for saving the digital infrastructure of Ukraine during the war

Today, the minister of digital transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, held a meeting with representatives of Amazon. 3 days after Russia's attack on Ukraine, Amazon transferred 10 petabytes of Ukrainian data of state importance to classified servers, which saved Ukraine from a terrible leak of information to Russia. Mykhailo Fedorov reported that capacity for backups of Ukrainian data was provided even before the war. For saving Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Amazon AWS with a unique distinction.

"One more Peace Prize by Zelenskyy comes to Amazon AWS. Amazon AWS literally saved our digital infrastructure — state registries and critical databases migrated to the AWS cloud environment. Ready to cooperate on gov tech solutions and reform the judicial sphere radically," Mykhailo Fedorov.

The minister said that the first cloud capacities worth tens of millions of dollars provided by Amazon AWS for Ukrainian data were provided even before the start of the war.

"By the way, many people in the company work after hours, free of charge, in projects supporting Ukraine," Fedorov.

Minister Fedorov also shared his plans to implement Amazon AWS technologies in Ukrainian courts. This collaboration may open a new stage in developing the digital judiciary through the Diia application.

"I really want to implement the first projects of introducing artificial intelligence in courts for decision-making within the framework of administrative violations. Amazon has similar cases. And this is an opportunity for us."

We remind you that Amazon AW and the Ministry of digital transformation signed a cooperation memorandum on July 16, 2021.
