The Ministry of culture of Ukraine has published scary data on the destruction of cultural heritage. As of July 18, Russia has committed 423 crimes against the cultural heritage of Ukraine. What, for example, the Russians did:
- A unique wooden skete of Ukraine was burned;
- Bombs were dropped several times on the holy lavra carved in the chalk mountain;
- Destruction of a more than 200-year-old library;
- Stealing of the Scythian gold;
- The museum of the Ukrainian artist Archip Kuindzhi was robbed.
"As of today, Russians have committed 423 crimes against our cultural heritage. They are targeting our heritage on purpose. Each speaker expressed his vision of the war in Ukraine, and it is the only one — Russia is trying to destroy our identity. All participants (except the Russian Federation, of course) condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which destroys cultural heritage, our language, literature, and robs our museums. This is an attempt to erase everything Ukrainian from the face of the earth. But the whole world understands this and Russia will not succeed. International organizations should increase pressure on Russia to stop this terrorism against the Ukrainian nation. Only together will we be able to stop the aggressor," minister of culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko.
According to Tkachenko, the Ministry is currently working on the register of the cultural heritage of Ukraine and museum archives in order to return everything that Russia stole after the war.
During the war against Ukraine, Russia destroyed 30 museums, including the museum of the outstanding Ukrainian artist Maria Pryimachenko (you see her canvas on the cover of the article).
