On May 27, Russian troops occupied part of the Kharkiv region. In particular, the city of Lyman. On October 1, 2022, the towns were liberated from the Russian presence by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As soon as the occupiers left the settlement, war crimes that the Russians committed in this territory began to be discovered. The first and most horrific is the mass grave. As in Izium, which was released on September 12th.
Law enforcement agencies reported a mass grave of Ukrainian civilians. As of today, more than 50 graves have been discovered. Each of them was killed by Russian invaders.
According to a surviving resident of Lyman, the Russians forced the Ukrainians to dig trenches, collect corpses from the streets, and bury them. Therefore, many individuals from this burial have not yet been identified. Some graves have plaques with the names of the buried, some do not. Also, this resident said that in one of the houses of Ukrainians, the Russians "built" a first-aid post. During the retreat, the Russians left the corpses of their colleagues in this house.
