The Occupiers in Mariupol Dismantled the Monument to Victims of Holodomor

The Russians demolished the memorial to victims of artificially created by the Soviet Union famine, which killed almost 4 million Ukrainians

In 1932-1933, the Soviets confiscated from the citizens of Ukraine all the food they had grown in their fields, all livestock products and all livestock that could become a source of food. Driven into conditions of deliberate starvation, Ukrainians ate grass, tree bark and starved to death (living on the most fertile land in the world). Nearly 4 million Ukrainians died from hunger, which the Kremlin created as a weapon of genocide against our people. Ukraine and several other European states recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.

In many cities of Ukraine, there are monuments to the victims of the Holodomor. One of them has been standing in Mariupol since 2004 on the square opposite the drama theatre. Today the Russian invaders dismantled this monument.

"The occupiers in Mariupol dismantled the monument to the Victims of the Holodomor, which was installed near the drama theatre. The Russians continue to destroy everything related to Ukraine, our culture, history and heritage. Rage. Just Anger," advisor to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andrushchenko.

The Russians are pursuing a policy of destroying Ukrainian authenticity. In September of this year, the invaders in Mariupol dismantled a monument to Ukrainians who died during World War I. In its place, they erected a monument to Aleksandr Nevsky.

American scientists have made a statement that the Russians are deliberately destroying monuments of Ukrainian culture and history, as well as robbing our museums. Thus, the invaders are trying to destroy Ukrainian authenticity. PACE adopted 3 resolutions confirming this.

For 8 months, the Russians, who have occupied Mariupol, have been creating a second Holodomor there. Hunger, unsanitary conditions, and lack of light and water (even drinking water), Ukrainians are dying of disease and starvation. The humanitarian catastrophe caused by the Russian presence has led to thousands of deaths among the local population.
