Wild harvested berries continue to form the backbone of Ukraine’s organic berry exports to the European Union, according to research by Organic Standard, the Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office and Diia.Business.
In 2025, Ukraine exported 15.4 thousand tonnes of organic berries to the EU. Export volumes fell by 12.5 percent compared with 2024, but revenue grew by more than 22 percent, showing that value and market positioning improved even as tonnage declined.
Wild harvest dominates the structure
Wild berries accounted for 11.8 thousand tonnes of exports, while cultivated organic berries represented 3.6 thousand tonnes. In value terms, wild harvested products also remained the larger segment.
Among cultivated berries, raspberries and strawberries generated the largest export volumes. Among wild berries, bilberry remained the clear leader. Ukrainian organic berries accounted for about 30 percent of EU organic raspberry imports and about 45 percent of organic blackberry imports. Almost all organic bilberry imports into the EU came from Ukraine.
In total, 55 Ukrainian companies exported organic berries to 18 countries. The largest buyers were Poland, Czechia, Italy, Germany and Austria.
The data shows that Ukraine is not only a raw agricultural supplier, but a specialized organic niche player in European food chains.
For producers, the next challenge is to protect certification quality, cold-chain logistics and processing capacity so that higher value can compensate for unstable harvest volumes.
